The Brief

Stories from the screen, the street & everywhere in between.

NyeemInc. is a Manhattan-based independent film, television and podcast production company founded by Nyeem Greenwood — an MFA filmmaker from City College of New York whose debut film Off Book won the 2022 Chantal Akerman Award, was an official selection at Cannes Short Film Corner, and travelled the international festival circuit from Amsterdam to Korea.

The old site didn’t reflect any of that. It felt like a generic film school template — functional but emotionally flat. It told you what the company did. It didn’t make you feel what the company was about.

The brief was simple: make a website that feels like a film.
NyeemInc. — the original site Before the redesign
Goals

What we set out to do.

01 — Editorial tone
Typography that feels like the credits sequence of a film. Confident, restrained, never decorative.
02 — Showcase the work
Films, TV pilots and podcast each get room to breathe. No clutter, no carousels for the sake of it.
03 — The Circuit
A dedicated home for the festival recognition — Cannes, CUNY, Amsterdam, Golden Actress — without it feeling like a brag.
04 — Future-proof
Easy to add new films, new festivals, new press as the slate grows. Built for a working production company, not a one-off showreel.
The Process

How we got there.

01

Audit & positioning

Read every page of the old site. Watched Off Book. Listened to Brothers & Sisters. Pulled the whole crew list from the CCNY thesis archive. Mapped what was missing — the company story, the festival recognition, the upcoming TV slate — against what was over-emphasised on the old site.

02

Information architecture

Restructured to seven pages: Home, Films, TV, Podcast, About, The Circuit, Contact. The Circuit became its own page rather than a footnote — festival selections deserve a dedicated home. About now leads with Nyeem’s biography and the Chantal Akerman Award, then the full crew, then the company philosophy.

03

Visual identity

Warm cream paper background with deep rust and ink black accents — like a film poster from the 1970s. Italic Fraunces for titles, Cabinet Grotesk in tight uppercase tracking for everything else. Marquee ticker across the top of the hero, listing project names like a cinema billboard.

04

Home page composition

One hero statement: “Stories from the screen.” Then a featured film block for Off Book with the YouTube embed. Then a four-column grid linking out to Films, TV, Podcast and About. Then The Circuit row showcasing four laurels. Built for someone visiting for the first time to feel the scope of the company in under 15 seconds.

05

Films page

Each film gets its own section with a synopsis, key crew credits, festival selections, and an embedded trailer. Seven films total, from Off Book down to the Hinge spec commercial. Honest about which are completed and which are in development.

06

About & The Circuit

About page covers Nyeem’s biography from Atlanta stand-up to CCNY MFA, the Chantal Akerman Award, the full production crew, and the company philosophy. The Circuit page lists every festival selection chronologically with the laurels at full size.

07

Build & deploy

Hand-coded HTML, CSS and JavaScript. No frameworks, no template builders. Custom cursor, scroll reveals, responsive on every breakpoint. Deployed live at nyeeminc.com.

Before & After

From a loud template to a cinematic identity.

Before
  • Bright yellow background with a scrolling “NYEEMIMC.” marquee
  • Embedded YouTube player as the hero — no framing or context
  • Loud repeating banners: “The results of audacious ambition”
  • Everything on one long page — films, about, statement all stacked
  • No clear separation of Films, TV & Podcast
  • Energetic, but it read like a flyer — not a film company
After
  • Dark, cinematic palette that feels like the screen itself
  • Bold editorial hero: “Stories from the screen.”
  • Seven focused pages — Films, TV, Podcast, About, The Circuit, Contact
  • Festival laurels (Cannes, CUNY, Amsterdam) given real prominence
  • Each project introduced with title, logline & trailer
  • Calm, confident, and unmistakably a production house
Yellow flyer aesthetic
Dark, cinematic identity
Scrolling marquee banners
Editorial typographic hero
One long stacked page
Seven focused, organised pages
Awards buried in the scroll
Festival circuit front & centre
The Outcome

A website that feels like a film.

Live at nyeeminc.com. Seven pages, fully responsive, hand-coded. Updated as the company adds new films and the festival circuit grows.
